PostSubject: Kira's house/office of fun   Sat Feb 11, 2012 11:13 pm

Kira lounged around her office waiting for something fun to happen. What was fun? Well, she had a very broad idea on the idea of 'fun'. She was a sadist so any time she got to torture someone was fun. Of course she also had her dear friends, the other captains and whatever other kinds of people wandered in. She wouldn't necessarily torture them, unless they wanted to be tortured... but they were still a source of amusement.

Arka peeked around the corner, a large basket held in the crook of one elbow. It had a checkered hand cloth covering it. There was her target, sitting there at her desk. AHA! now was the perfect time. Jumping forward into the room, she presented the basket with relish. "Lady Kira~ I brought you cookies! And I didn't make them either." Which was as good as telling her they would be delicious and non poisonous.

"Ah, splendid," Kira said with an evil smile. Every smile of hers looked evil, even when she was in a genuinely good mood.

"Pull up a chair, my dearest Arka. You share your cookies and I'll share my alcohol. You do drink, right? What's your favorite. Surely I have it." Kira pushed back in her chair. Underneath her desk was a refrigerator. It was small, but packed with a wide variety of drinks.

"So tell me what's been going on lately. I have been out of the loop for a while now. Guess you could say I've been busy inside my own world."

The Lady Kira was in fine form today, Arka noted. With a smile that was as happy as Kira's was evil. She waltzed into the room and did pull up a chair, moving it behind Kira's desk and near the other woman, so they could easily share. "Hmm do you have that japanese style drink with the fruit in it? I really like that stuff.

Always was this fun, and she placed the basket on the table, taking off the cover with a "TADA~ All kinds this time. I snuck them from various people, all well known for their cookies."

Putting a finger to her mouth, she looked up before replying. "Well I might be finally getting a Captain that isn't a total pervert and evil soon. Since the last one died, of viagra overdose, I've been sorta lonely. The other squads have been other squads. Not much to tell. Though I hear Squad 4 has a young looking Vice Captain. Like Fourteen or fifteen."

"Fruit sake? I have a few small bottles. I've got pineapple, mango, and strawberry." She set out each bottle on her desk as she listed them. She dug through her refrigerator a bit more, pushing aside every other drink - tequila, wine, champagne, cheap beer, whiskey, her favorite amaretto - and pulled out another bottle. "There's also this, but uhh... it doesn't have a label. It was a gift from my squad. They said it was a fruit sake, but I can't identify the fruit. Then again, I don't often eat fruits, so I can't claim to be the best at identifying taste."

Kira examined her cookies the way a rich man might examine his treasures with a greedy glint in his eye. "Ah, chocolate chip, oatmeal, sugar, oh, is that a chocolate mint?" she grabbed it and took a bite. "Mmm, delicious."

"Ah, such is life with you I suppose. I was unaware the previous one died of viagra overdose. That's... unique. What did the previous one die of? Excessive sex? Crushed pelvis?"

Kira started to pour herself a shot of the pineapple sake while it was out. "A young captain, eh? We best not break him too soon, then, I suppose."

Taking the bottle with the unknown fruit in it, Arka swiveled it around a bit before it dawned on her. "Its Ume. A type of...like plum apricot. This is supposed to be rather good actually."

"I remembered you loved those Lady~ So I made sure to sniff those out. So many cookieless dates are going on around the sereitei right now." Arka had to laugh about that. It was seriously... Silly how many people were making cookies for this celebration called valentines day in a week or so. It just made her basket more full.

"They tried to keep it shush shush. He died of old age they said, but the whole squad knows different. We saw the body and the computer before he was moved. Something about what to do if it doesn't go down. Serves the old pervert right." Arka really hated her old captain, so feeling sorry for his death wasn't something she did. Though the comment about previous captain made her laugh. "I honestly don't know. Its possible. The new one might be just as perverted, but I hope he's at least cute and easy on the eyes. If he's just as bad as the last one though, you don't mind if I send him your way for punishment hmm?"

"Ume, huh?" Kira tasted it again. "Yes, yes... now that you mention it. I ate ume long ago... long, long ago. Ah, brings back memories of my days on Earth. Wasn't my favorite fruit though, so I haven't eaten many since my death."

"Ah, I support any day that gives people a reason to make cookies. Especially if those cookies end up as mine." She gave off a menacing laugh, though she meant to sound cute. "And all the chocolate on this day, too. I'm going to buy some later."

"So how many captains have you gone through, Arka? I think by now you should be valid for captaincy. Or is that a job you don't want to apply for? Anyway, if you don't like him, I'll find ways to torture him. Never you worry about that."

"Oh? What was it like, being there with the rest of the regular people?" Arka was curioius. She was born into the Soul Society so it was rather different to hear about other lives. "So it was a good fruit? All I know about it is that is from the human realm and sometimes here."

"I agree with you!" Arka joined in the laughter, hers a bit less menacing than Kira's. She was used to this sort of laugh by now, it was just how Kira was. Arka would find goodies around the sereitei and bring them to the Captain and they would drink and talk. "Oh you want chocolate too? I've got a whole bunch in my office, most of it homemade!

"Eh, just that one. And I have not the Bankai to go with it. Thats more important for Captaincy than you know, actual experience and stuff. Sometimes I wonder how the Soul Society even keeps running with all the stupidity that abounds." Taking a drink she sighed, a bit grumpy about it. Just because she wasn't super strong meant she couldn't apply at all to be captain, even though she was perfect for the job.

"I can't remember Earth that well, to be honest. It was so long ago and I was alive for such a short time. I hear Earth is very different now than it was when I was alive. I wasn't very fond of it. It was all muscle-headed men fighting for lands that weren't theirs, having their way with any woman they could, and destroying anything that resisted them. I suppose it's not so different from how things are now." She finished off her chocolate mint cookie and started on a sugar cookie. "We ate a lot of fish. It was like the sea was a giant soup bowl. We ate some fruits and vegetables as well, but not as much. Oh and rice... always so much rice. I like rice still, don't get me wrong, though it gets old after a while."

"Mm, chocolate is always welcome in these halls. Especially if they have nuts in them. I love nuts... no innuendo intended." She smirked. "Or maybe I did intend it."

She sighed after hearing Arka tell her woes. "Right, a bankai... I suppose it is important when we're a society of warriors. I think many captains don't mind letting their vices take control of the administrative duties. Many of them just want to fight and not concern themselves with the finer details in running a squad. But then they get all that power in their head and think they can rule you. I suppose that's when you give them a viagra overdose, huh?" She laughed cruelly. "Oh, I love it when people die such appropriate deaths. And no... I don't mean to imply you had anything to do with your previous captain's... timely... demise. I would say untimely, but he was quite old, wasn't he?"

"It sounds...interesting in an annoying way. Rice all the time sucks, I feel your pain. As a lesser member of the family I don't get any real special foods there. In fact I get better food here from the cafeteria! I swear I grew up on rice, rice, and more rice as a kid." Arka made a face at the thought of rice, she would eat it but not unless she had to.

"I think some do. I haven't sorted it out yet...but thats what friends are for, hm? Sharing the tedious task of sorting chocolate out." Laughing, Arka sent a message to her squad through a device in her collar to bring in the chocolate. They would probably take a bit to arrive, so Arka relaxed with her drink.

"It is, I don't disagree. But some squads don't really need a Bankai Captain. And I'm close I can feel it!" She took a swig at that, sighing a bit before bursting into laughter. "It really does look like I killed him doesn't it. Poetic justice I think is the term for it."

"When I lived on Earth, I was born into... semi-nobility. I'm not sure what you could call it. But I felt like nothing more than a servant. I was supposed to be married to a man I despised, and I was taught to cook, clean, and please him in bed. Not sure why I was so important for those tasks. He had other maids to do all three of those things. So I made rice... all the time..." Kira sighed. "If there's any reason I'm glad to live in Soul Society it that we have a better variety of food here."

"Oh, what is that thing on your neck?" she asked as she noticed Arka playing with the device on her collar. "Some new-fangled technology? I can't keep up with that stuff. Telephones still seem like magic to me. Hell, I understand magic better than that!" Kira chanted a low-level hadou spell and blasted a nearby wall. The same wall had many other burn marks and patched-up holes, hinting that it wasn't the first time Kira had shot her kidou into it.

"Hmm, I'll never understand what it feels to have to practice learning bankai. I don't mean to brag or sound entitled, but I discovered my bankai so quickly... I'm not sure why. I think Tsuru was lonely and wanted me to find her. But I hope you discover yours soon. I would love to have you as a fellow captain. I have always trusted you to watch my back and I always will, regardless of your rank." She took a large drink of amaretto and finished off the second cookie.

"Oh I see. Huh, that sounds... terrible. Marrying someone you didn't like... Were you at least allowed to mess around on him too? If not thats not fair and they should be shot. I hope when I am forced into marriage, he understands I am not a one man woman." Arka growled that out, a bit grumpy one of her favorite people had been forced into that. But it was interesting to learn about the food. "So how...did you die? Did you kill him?"

"Its a small two way device that transmits small amounts of data over a decent distance. Kinda like a telephone now that you mention it! Hah, Kira-chan, you really need to keep up with some of this stuff. I can help you sometime if you want. Make you flashcards and stuff with pictures?" Arka loved new technology and was one of the first to get things from Squad 12. She would even wait in front of the squad all night just on the off chance they had something new. Still she barely flinched when Kira shot kidou at the wall. So thats what all those marks were. Arka grabbed a cookie and nommed on it without seeing what kind it was.

"Hah you are very lucky then! I am training as much as I have time for and still stay sane. I was hoping I could have it before he croaked, but surprises happen... Aww thank you Kira." Arka actually teared up at that. "I promise to keep your back safe! And all other parts of you."

"Hah," she grinned at the idea of killing the man she had been betrothed to. "How I wish I had killed him, but alas, I was not a warrior back in those days. No, he was slain by someone else, who then sent his hounds to violate and kill me. I was born in an age where warlords ruled the country and if you beat your enemy, you crush them entirely. You burn their castle and kill their family. I was nothing more than a casualty in a petty war my father and betrothed lost."

Kira groped around at Arka's neck, examining the collar. She wasn't aware that what she was doing could be considered awkward at best and violent at worst. "Interesting. Maybe I should get one of those. Come to think of it, I think I saw some of my squad mates wearing something like that. I didn't know it was so useful! I thought it was... I don't know... the newest fashion maybe. Or some kind of magically-enhanced armor. Yes, you should teach me about all the newest technologies! Look, my squad gave me this thing assuming it would make my work easier, but I can't figure it out!" Kira reached for a device on her desk. It opened and closed like a book, but the insides didn't have pages. One was a screen and the other had keys with letters and numbers. "I... uhh... have been too embarrassed to ask my squad how it's supposed to work."

"I know you will find your bankai soon," she said. "It could also be a problem with the spirit of your zanpakuto. I know some of them are very... particular... about their users."

"Thats...fairly awful." Arka felt bad she asked. Being violated in such a way...was awful. Then to die on top of it. Not even getting revenge either! "I hope they were eaten by hollows then brought into hell." She was furious at what happened, wishing Nobles could have been born into the real world. She didn't know what she would have done to those men but...it wasn't pretty.

Arka tilted her head back so Kira had easier access. Kira was one for things like that, so Arka didn't mind. It wasn't like Kira would do anything to her that could hurt her. "They are very useful, but the range is much shorter than I'd like and the amount you can send at once is a lot less than getting a cell phone. But its really useful for short bursts. Hell Butterflies are a lot better still, so I use those for emergencies and important stuff still." As she watched the woman point to the laptop on the desk, Arka almost laughed but she respected Kira too much. "Its called a computer, or more distinctly a laptop. They can store lots of information and its primarily used in a fun fashion. Like you can play games on it, games that have pictures that move and such. You click the keys to put in words and such as you wish too. Can you hand it to me?" Arka held out her hands, she could show Kira some things as to what it could do.

"Thank you...I really think it is. It likes being in control and I can't seem to topple it."

Kira let out a sigh, then took a healthy swig of her alcohol. "It was awful. That was actually when I lost my virginity... to a gang of enemy soldiers. My father assumed that me and my betrothed had done the deed, but I hated that man so much and I refused to sleep with him until it became an absolute necessity to bear an heir. Well, I suppose it's a good thing I hadn't born an heir yet. I fear I would have fallen in love with a baby if I had one... then I would have fallen into despair watching the enemy soldiers butcher it before my eyes. I am cruel because it keeps me strong. I fear falling in love... with men, with a baby, with anything. When I died, I realized I could keep moving one step at a time because I had hated everyone on Earth. I didn't miss them. But yes... I hope they were eaten by hollows as well. It's certainly a fantasy I've had. I have never found the souls of anyone I knew on Earth. Can't say I care to find them, but I do become curious occasionally."

Kira nodded as she listened to Arka's explanation of the collar. "Ah, I see. Yes, I'm quite fond of Hell Butterflies. So how do you send messages on this thing? What if you want to talk to one person, then to a different person? I know telephones have numbers but... this thing doesn't have a number pad, does it?"

She passed the book-like device to her friend. "A computer? Huh, yes, I've heard of them. Kids like to talk about the things they've done on their computers. It seems too complicated, but if there's anything you can teach me, I'll try to learn."

"A bankai that happens to be a control-freak. I... I know what that's like. I feel like I've become quite power-mad in the last few centuries. I like to dominate others. I can't help it. I need to be in control or else I am weak. Yet I put my trust in my fellow squad mates and friends like you. Maybe your bankai needs to learn the same. A careful balance of control and trust."

"You make a pretty good point... I don't think I can love like that though." Arka let out a short laugh. She really was twisted, and kids didn't appeal to her. Neither did marriage or anything like that. Her family was pushing her at the moment to marry another noble, and she kinda wanted to mess with them by picking a female. Just as a joke of course. Damn Kira and her lack of nobleness.

"You press it, and speak into it softly. It can only speak to a general thing, like a speaker in one spot, and then someone has to transfer the message somehow. Its not totally perfected yet, we aren't as good as Squad 12 at coming up with things." Fiddling with it, she then heard the sound coming down the hall of a wheelbarrow. Where they had found on, she didn't know, but it spoke for their knowledge of their Lieutenant. She was on the floor laughing when they brought it in, filled with chocolate. "Y-you can have it all Kira. Consider it my gift to you."

Now looking at the computer, she flipped it open and pointed to a circular button near the screen. "Now this is the power button, you can turn it on by using this... Once its on you can do all sorts of things, write reports on it and play games. Do accounting work, um... Play music. Talk to people through text. I think there's more. never actually had to explain before to be honest."

"I kinda wish mine was a little nicer. He's an anarchist. Well I say he cause I have no idea what gender mine is. He likes to mess with me and speak in multiples, which throws me off even more. I am glad you trust me! Maybe one day I can get him to."

"So what about you, Arka? I've never known what it's like to be born in the Soul Society. How does it feel having your entire family around your whole life?"

Kira tilted her head trying to wrap the explanation into her brain, but it wasn't working. Technical things were so difficult. When the wheelbarrow full of chocolate was brought into her office, she laughed like a madwoman. She walked over to it and grabbed a bunch in her hands and let them fall through her fingers. "How in the world did you ever get so many chocolates? I... I'll never finish these! You'll have to help me eat them! Oh my, but thanks! I - I wish I had something to give you in exchange, but what can compare to that? W-well, it might not be an equal exchange, but take some of the alcohol you like. That ume stuff too." Kira grabbed a handful of chocolates and brought them to her desk, already munching on them.

While nomming on her candy, she watched Arka show her how to use the laptop. "As much as I'd like to play and have fun on it, I think I should learn how to do work on it. How do you write or do accounting on it?"

"Speak in multiples?" Kira repeated. "What do you mean by that? It sounds... intriguing. Your zanpakuto's spirit sounds like an odd fellow. Perhaps we just need to understand him first."

"Its actually...weird. People treat you a lot different and they tend to not be nice about it. Well to your face they are, but once your back is turned the slurs begin. Sometimes you are treated as not human, but well technically I'm not so while its annoying I can't fault them. Isn't being human defined by being alive in the Human World or something?" Arka wasn't sure and shrugged. Still Kira's reaction was worth the wait for the chocolate. Fred the wheelbarrow was doing a good job today.

"You'd be surprised how many men who are in my squad follow that whole thing the Japanese on earth do. Something about giving chocolate to important to them women, and your boss is supposed to be one of them. I'll take you up on your offer!" Grinning happily, she poured more in a cup and turned to the laptop.

"Well you see, you press those buttons there with letters on them to form words. That long bar at the bottom makes spaces between them. Aand one of the best things about doing accounting on a computer is the fact that they have written things to make it better." Pulling up a spreadsheet and wordprocessor for Kira, she typed in a paragraph to show Kira how that worked first.

"I believe you have a... Oh here! See this sheet? Its just like a written report file, but instead you can type into it and then you can make sure the file stays on this computer by saving it. This button up here that is square and blue? Try to save it in a spot you will remember, otherwise it could be hard to find." Arka was wondering if she'd have to explain everything, even how to send the report in using the computer.

Now pulling up the blank spreadsheet, she pointed to a box. "This is normally used for accounting and such purposes. I'll have to get some of special ones that we use in my squad to make life easier for you, so until then just use this for reports."

"He, for lack of a better term, speaks as if several voice as all at once. I suppose... but he doesn't like to give away things." Arka thought about it. "Maybe there are some things I know."

Kira shakes her head in disappointment. "That sounds horrible. So you feel like you're treated badly even though you're a noble? I always thought the point of being a noble was that others were supposed to treat you well. Hmm... so then what is the point of nobility, eh?"

Kira didn't often let thoughts like that out. Deep down she was awfully close to being an anarchist, and yet here she was being a captain of the Soul Society in a position of power. She popped another chocolate into her mouth to force herself to stay silent.

She watched carefully as the woman showed her how to use her laptop. "Ah, okay... I think I can handle this." She hit a few keys on the keyboard, but she didn't know what to type so all she typed was gibberish. "My squadmates would think a monkey typed that up. I see how it works. Yes... and all the data is safe here? So I won't have to worry about losing papers. Very handy. Now how do I print what I type?"

"Several voices all at once... Is he telling you many things at once, or is it just one thing being said my many voices? If the former, then no wonder it's so confusing. If the latter... well, it's strange. I've never heard of a zanpakuto spirit doing that before."
